Once again, I travelled north to the Cherry Capital Comic Con. This convention takes place at the Grand Traverse Resort during Memorial Day weekend. 2018 marked the 10 year anniversary of the event. I met up with Billy West again. Billy is a long running voice actor featured in Futurama (Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg, Zap), Ren and Stimpy, and Disenchantment. Jill Thompson at the Cherry Capital Comic Con 2018
Jill Thompson is a multiple Eisner Award winning artist who’s work includes The Scary Godmother series, Beasts of Burden, Magic Trixie and Wonder Woman: The True Amazon. Seriously, her water color art is amazing. Of course, we talk about the Scary Godmother and Beasts of Burden. We also talk about manga, anime and pro wrestling. Being the huge wrestling fans that we are, we talked about pro wrestling for a solid half hour in this interview. I must note that we had to pause the interview while a young man and his father came up to the table to talk to Jill. Per Ms. Thompson’s request, the interview is left completely unedited. Brian O’Halloran is an actor from movies such as Vulgar, Brutal Massacre: A Comedy, Clerks, Mallrats, Clerk II, and Dogma. Instead of the usual questions about the View Askewniverse, we dive into the other cool things that he is apart of. We talk about a new comic book that he’s featured in, his experiences on the Fireball Run, and his bond with George Carlin. Gene Ha is an Eisner Award winning artist who has collaborated with the perennial Allen Moore to create Top 10 and Top 10: The Forty-Niners. We dive into his creator owned comic, Mae. Plus, we talk about Top 10, comics that have had an impact on him, his admiration for history, anime, manga, and we talk about a wonderful water color artist too.
