January Mix Tape Theme: MAGFest Memories

This month’s theme are songs that I associate with each year that I’ve attended MAGFest (Music and Gaming Fest). While MAGFest is not in Michigan, it is an event that I make it a point to go to each year because it is special to me. 2018 was my 1st time attending MAGFest. To say that my mind was blown would be an understatement. I was surrounded by video game culture and music. I was hooked and have been since.

The song that I associate with 2018 is “Broken Connection” by Dr. Zilog. Sadly, I did not see this song or concert in person. In fact, I checked out the performance after the festival was over. I regret not being there in person. Why do I associate my 2018 MAGFest experience with a band that I didn’t see? Broken Connection just clicks and reminds me of the great times that I had at my 1st MAGFest. Every year, as I head into the Gaylord Resort, this song plays in my head. The second I walk through the revolving door, the 1st lead solo rolls into my head and I know that I’ve come home for that special time of the year. Broken Connection is the 1st song performed, in the embedded video. Personally, I recommend the whole concert since it is and excellent blend of metal and chiptune.
