Vault of Midnight (GR) Free Comic Book Day

But once a year, on the first Saturday in May, Vault of Midnight joins forces with local comic shops worldwide to offer free comic books to the masses. We aim to spread the word about everything the comic book medium has to offer by sharing our favorite titles in an approachable and risk-free way.

Doors open at 10am! Early risers will get pick of the litter from our free comic book wall, and Madcap Coffee will be offering up complementary caffeine samples while supplies last. Sidewalk festival concludes at 5pm but free comics will be flying off the shelves til 10pm!

Manga as a visual and literary medium has inspired some of the most iconic and memorable anime and live action films in key genres of the past several decades. From AKIRA to TOKYO TRIBE, the results are unique, fresh and, ultimately, concepts that are then flatteringly stolen across the globe, to take the medium to the eye-popping CGI and cinematography that is seen today.

This series is intended to help celebrate and educate audiences to not only the stellar films launched by Japanese manga, but the ready-made “storyboards” this unique source material helped deliver to how we take in film today.
