Run for Robots 5k

ATTRACTIONS: Kick off the fall season with a run/walk in Lapeer’s beautiful Rowden park trail.
Although a fun race for everyone, it will still be timed for participants who like to have those numbers!
The Chimeras will also have interactive robot demonstrations in the pavilion before and after the event, so participants can get a glimpse at what the team does.

PURPOSE OF THE EVENT: To raise funds for The Chimeras FIRST Robotics Competition Team. They are a free to play, high school aged team, who count on generous donations, investors and fundraising to keep the team running. Proceeds will help pay for robot parts, competitions, travel & other expenses which can be near $50,000 a year.

Being a part of a robotics team impacts students in ways that are life changing. A wide array of skills learned that are valuable for future careers, scholarships earned, job ready at graduation, youth mentoring, volunteering, leadership and relationships that build character. It’s an experience like no other and definitely more than just robots! Supporting this program helps to shape these students lives!

CHARITY DONATION:This year the team also wanted to help another important non-profit in our area,The Family Literacy Center. 10% of all our proceeds will go to this charity to further support education in our community. Please see their website for more details on all they do for our community and the programs they run. www.readlapeer.org

Halloween Robot Parade & Global Robotics Arts Festival 2014

Halloween Robot Parade & Global Robotics Arts Festival 2014
October 25, 2014 9am-4pm

For those who are into robotics, this will pique your interests. Macomb Community College with cooperation with Lawrence Technological University will host this RoboFest event. The parade will consist of robotic floats. Expect at least a ghost or a ghoul in the parade since it will be close to Halloween. Afterwards, the Global Robotics Arts Festival takes place. Robots will be in costume and dance. Robots will paint. There will be robotic music as well. The best thing about these robotic displays: it’s student driven from many age and class levels. Mark this on your calendars.
