AlmaCon 2015

Anime and gaming convention sums up AlmaCon. This con is organized by the Alma College Otaku and Gamers group. 2015 will mark the 5th year anniversary of this relatively new anime convention. The cost of admission: an expensive sum of $5 if you pre-register. Otherwise, it will be $5 at the door. Various screenings, events and panels to choose from. Mark it on your calendar.

Marmalade Dog 20

Marmalade Dog is a gaming convention held by the Western Michigan Gamers Guild (WMGG) each year. The largest in SW Michigan, this gaming convention features role-playing games, card games, board games, miniature wargames and a variety of other events.

Michigan State University Comics Forum 2015

Held every year on the beautiful campus of Michigan State University, The Michigan State University Comics Forum is an an event that brings together scholars, creators, and fans in order to explore celebrate the medium of comics, graphic storytelling, and sequential art.

The 2015 MSU Comics Forum will take place on Feb. 20th and 21st. The keynote address will occur on the first evening, Friday, Feb. 20th, 2015, while the panel discussions and artist alley will take place the following day, Saturday, Feb 21st, 2015. The location will be in Snyder/Phillips Hall on the campus of Michigan State University.

This year, the Forum is proud to announce that Sergio Aragones will be our Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker on Friday, Feb 20th, 2015.  Aragones is the most honored cartoonist, having won every major award in the field including the National Cartoonists Society?s Reuben Award and the Will Eisner Hall of Fame Award.  He is widely known for his contributions to Mad Magazine and his long-running comic book series, Groo the Wanderer.  Recently, Aragones completed a Groo vs. Conan crossover with artist, Tom Yeates, and continues his more than 50 years of contributions to Mad Magazine.

Shuto Con 2015

Shuto Con is Lansing’s Annual Anime Convention, coming to the Lansing Center March 20th-22nd, 2015. This convention will be a three day event held in Lansing, MI that focuses on Artists and the art of Interactive Cosplaying!

Starting Friday morning at the Lansing Center and Radisson Hotel Lansing our convention will run from 9AM until 6PM Sunday afternoon. We will have several large rooms for panels, over 50 unique artists as well as several dealers to get your latest anime goodies from, three anime viewing rooms, a huge video game room open during the entire convention, a table top gaming room, special guests, and much more!

Shuto Con also hopes to give you a truly unique experience by participating in our “Interactive Cosplay” experience. We highly encourage ALL our attendees to dress up as their favorite characters and act like them during the convention. A mock battle arena will be staged where you can “fight” it out with other cosplayers, or even take “bets” on who will win! Special points will be given out to those that participate the most, and at Closing Ceremonies on Sunday afternoon we will announce the Shuto Con “King and Queen of Cosplayers”! If you do not wish to participate, but would still like to capture those fond memories, we ask that your bring your cameras and/or video recorders and witness a viral hit in the making!

Grand Rapids Comic Con 2015

Grand Rapids Comic-Con is a comic book and popular arts convention that will be held on October 16-18, 2015, at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This show will feature a huge vending room selling comic books, anime/manga, movie memorabilia, action figures, toys, and other cool stuff as well as the following:

Motor City Furry Con 2015

Motor City Furry Con is a spring convention run in Novi, MI. MCFC is a furry, or anthropomorphics, convention, which means that it is run for the furry fandom with the intention of offering programming catered to members of the furry fandom, as well as offering a venue for dealers, costumers, and general socializing of said fandom.

MCFC is open to all who wish to attend, but there is an age restriction. Attendees must be 18 and over.

GrandCon 2015

 

GrandCon is a tabletop gaming & fan convention in West Michigan. Their presenting sponsor for 2015 is Celebration! Cinema and charitable partner is Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. GrandCon will be held September 25-27, 2015. They will have an exhibit/vendor hall with game retailers, artists, and publishers. MEGGAcon (Michigan’s Entertainment, Gaming, Geek and Arts Convention) is Jackson, Michigan’s best gathering of all things nerdy! Cosplay, Games, GEEKS!

GRASP Comic Expo 2015

The GRASP Comic Expo is a two-day convention celebrating small press and the independent comic book artist that will be held on June 27-28, 2015, at the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, Michigan. GRASP stands for “Grand Rapids Alternative Small Press”, and this event will showcase independent publishers, artists, and writers. Dozens of aspiring and independent artists will be showcased in a huge vending area filled with small press printings, prints, and other artistic endeavors.

The GRASP Comic Expo will also features national comic book writers, creators, and artists that started as small-time independent artists as well as a few nationally known comic artists and writers. The GRASP Comic Expo will also have numerous seminars and presentation geared toward aspiring artists to help them to create their future goals or move on to the next level of their professional goals.

Other events at the GRASP Comic Expo includes a vending hall filled with books, comic books, posters, lobby cards, original art, action figures, statues, and lots of other items for the nerd deep inside. There will also be other nerd-based activities including costuming and a gaming room.
