Pillage The Village at The Mid-Michigan Renaissance Festival 2018

Join us as we close or 2018 season in a piratical, pillaging and patriotic style. Join the Vikings, Pirates and Buccaneers, oh my! From mermaids, to wenches come see the ships make berth and the scalawags join the land lubbers for a wholly good time.

As a thank you for joining us on this fourth of July weekend, we’d like to honor our service members who work so hard for us. Active Duty, Veterans, Military Reserves, Military Retiree, Police, Firefighters and EMS in free this weekend with proper ID.

Mid-Michigan Renaissance Festival – Pillage the Village

Take a step back in time where German History and Fairytales come to life. See the beautiful Queen Anna, her high strung Cousin the Duke of Kleves and his three troublesome sisters. Come and meet the Wicked Witch and her twin sister the Fairy Godmother, and all the characters in between. With a Viking Village neighbor, a real tavern, shows, shopping, food, events and games, the Enchanted Forest is a one of a kind experience that everyone wants to experience again and again!

Saving the best for last. How about Pirates, Vikings, Scallywags, Wenches, Mermaids, Buried Treasure and… Beer. Adventures to be had by both our SEA weathered buccaneers and the pint sized pirates. Let’s avoid the scurvy, and hard tack! Only the best in our village!!

Michigan Pirate Festival 2016

Join us for our 10th pirate fest!
Weekend festival – August 13th & 14th, 11am-6pm

Loutit District Library (LDL) and Harbor Island will be the port of swashbuckling, piratical fun for the whole family as the 10th Annual Michigan Pirate Festival invades Grand Haven, August 8-14, 2016.

With the theme, “Pirates through the Ages,” pirate re-enactors from historical to fantasy personas come from around Michigan and the Mid-West to entertain everyone from young powder monkeys to seasoned buccaneers.

The pillaging’ and plundering’ begins August 8 at 9 a.m. when LDL opens. Kids are invited to pick up a treasure map from the chest located at the Library’s Youth Services Area. This treasure map will lead young pirates and their families around downtown Grand Haven in search of fortune.

Harbor Island is where the pirates set-up for the weekend beginning Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Pirate merchants, stages, cannons, encampments and more are brought in to make any pirate feel at home. Minstrels wander and entertainers perform against this backdrop that is sure to appeal to the pirate in you.

And the pirates do not come alone. Mermaids and others friendly to the sea-going buccaneers join in and set up little areas of their own to help celebrate.

Weekend event admission is $5 for adults and children are free.

10-11: Storytelling with Scallywags – All ages Come enjoy a pirate’s favorite story. I wonder if it’s about treasure…
12-1: Pirates Meet Up and Eat Up at Central Park All ages
3-4:30: Pillaging with Pirates Ages 4-12 Come test your worth with a sword as the Pirates defend their treasure!
6:30: Small Arms Showcase All ages – parking lot
Tuesday:

11-12: Bellydance class and show with Gypsy Raqs (Ages 4-12) Come learn the pirates’ favorite bellydance moves, and enjoy a short show.
2-3: Pirate Puppet Show All ages Join the Pirates and their puppets for a silly puppet show.
6:30-7:30: Pirates meet & greet in the park with the Irish!! – WGHN along with LDL presents Music in the Park Series featuring Uneven Ground and Goitshe!.
Wednesday:

10-11:30: Powder Monkey Olympics Ages 4-12 – Join the Pirates and train to be an honorary powder monkey!
2-3: Pirate Crafts and Coloring Ages 4-10 Fun Pirate themed crafts. Make a treasure map, eye patch, or a parrot to complete your pirate ensemble.
7-8: Sea Shanty Singalong All ages Join the Pirates for a fun evening of sea shanties.
Thursday:

10-11: Dress Like a Pirate All ages
1-2: Pirate Games and Coloring Ages 4-12 Come play simple pirate games with a little bit of coloring thrown into the mix
7-8: Pirate Puppet Show All ages Join the Pirates and their puppets for a silly puppet show.
Friday:

10-11: Storytelling with Scallywags – All ages Come enjoy a pirate’s favorite story. I wonder if it’s about treasure…
1-2: Powder Monkey Olympics Ages 4-12 Join the Pirates and train to be an honorary powder monkey!

Michigan Pirate Festival 2015

Loutit District Library (LDL) and Harbor Island will be the port of swashbuckling, piratical fun for the whole family as the ninth Annual Michigan Pirate Festival invades Grand Haven, August 3-9.

With their theme, “Pirates through the Ages,” pirate re-enactors from historical to fantasy personas come from around Michigan and the Mid-West to entertain everyone from young powder monkeys to seasoned buccaneers.

The pillaging’ and plundering’ begins August 3 at 9 a.m. when LDL opens. Kids are invited to pick up a treasure map from the chest located at the Library’s Youth Services Area. This treasure map will lead young pirates and their families around downtown Grand Haven in search of fortune. Visit www.loutitlibrary.org, this year’s home port for festival events.

New this year is the “friendly abduction” of a city dignitary during the sail-in on Friday, August 7 at 6 p.m. as the pirates hold their victim for ransom throughout the night. Everyone is invited to bailout their captive during a public meet and greet at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 20 N. 2nd St., Grand Haven. The band McSpillin will provide piratical music. Adults may purchase beverages provided by The Eagles.

There is a $5 cover charge with a silent auction of donated items from local businesses throughout the evening with the funds going to ransom their captive. The pirates will donate the proceeds to the Waterfront Stadium Project.

During the weekend, the pirate festival moves to Harbor Island on Coho Drive with family activities from Saturday, August 8 through Sunday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Admission is $5 for adults. Children under 13 years old are free.
