Sanctuary LARP June 2017

Sanctuary is a post-apocalyptic medieval fantasy game based outside of Chicago. Sanctuary is the third spin off of another LARP called Final Haven.

In partnership with Final Haven and Winter Haven, Sanctuary uses the Final Haven rule set. The Character Creation is simplified compared to most other LARPs. Our quick advancement system allows the rapid integration of new players into the existing player base, without making them feel underpowered. So far, after 15 years of using this rule set, the response to this has been great! As you can see, we’ve expanded!

Sanctuary is one of the few LARPs that is both combat-oriented and roleplay-focused. All players must be 18 or older to play. You must bring a state or federal issued photo ID for proof of age, and you must sign a waiver. No exceptions.

Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival 2017

Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival (A2CAF for short).

The Festival will still feature dozens of comics artists along with workshops, demonstrations and interactive drawing games. It will still be as kid- and family-friendly as ever. And attending the event will be free as always.

What we hope the new name makes clear is that young children aren’t the only ones who can enjoy a fun-packed Ann Arbor weekend filled with comics and creativity. We welcome teens and adults (always have) and offer a slate of guests and activities to meet a wide range of comics-related interests (ditto).

We’re happy as can be to announce that this year’s A2CAF keynote speaker and special guest will be Jarrett J. Krosoczka, creator of the Lunch Lady graphic novel series, as well as the author and illustrator of the Platypus Police Squad books, the latest Star Wars: Jedi Academy, and more!

Jarrett is a two-time winner of the Children’s Choice Book Awards and has been a finalist for the comic book industry’s prestigious Will Eisner Award.

And if the more than two million views of his TED talks are any indication, his Saturday (June 17) keynote at A2CAF ought to be a big hit! Not that we’re putting on the pressure.
