International Tabletop Day

Founded in 2013 by Internet Nerd Gurus Geek & Sundry, International Tabletop Day is a worldwide celebration of board-gaming goodness. Local purveyors of comics and games, Vault of Midnight, will be on hand to lend their sharp wit & board gaming expertise to all eager attendees. With a well crafted and finely curated selection of board games in tow, they’ll be teaching both classic and contemporary games for any age.

International Tabletop Day is a free, family friendly event for both board and card game initiates and curious noobs alike. This is a great opportunity to nerd out and scratch your tabletop itch, to introduce your non-gamer friends to an incredibly enriching and rewarding hobby, or to come see what all of this board game fuss is about in the first place.

Drink and Draw February 2016

Calling all artists, beer drinkers, and beer-drinking local artists! Have you ever wanted to spend an evening meeting local creatives, exchanging ideas, and swapping techniques over a cold pint?

Yes, you know you have. C’mon.

Come unwind and refresh your mental palette at a very special Vault of Midnight edition of Party Table’s Drink and Draw. Join us at the Pyramid Scheme for an evening of sketching, drinking, or just drinking until your sketches look good. You bring your mad skills, or “talent,” we’ll bring the art supplies.

Crayons, pencils, and sharpies, as well as white and newsprint paper will be provided. Artists with more discerning tastes are encouraged to bring their own fancy pencil boxes for personal use!

Byron Rec Comic Con

Byron Rec’s first annual comic con is coming in 2016! Mark your calendars for this great little local event!

The Byron Township Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce the first annual Byron Rec Comic Con on Saturday, February 6, 2016. This event is starting small, but we hope for it to be a great family-friendly event for years to come! Held at the Byron Township Community Center, this FREE event is open to everyone to attend.

With other events like our Women’s Expo & Craft Show in the spring, we know we already have the potential here for a great event. We have a great community here in South Kent, and we know this will be a fun day. We also have kids’ activities planned from 12-3pm, and a kids’ cosplay contest starting at 3pm. We highly encourage all of our attendees to come in costume or come as they are.

Vendors will feature artwork, crafts, collectibles, gaming, comics, and more! Many vendors are from Byron Center, Grand Rapids, and surrounding communities. Concessions are also available.

The show time is 10am-4pm on Saturday, February 6. The event is free to attend and convenient parking is located in the Community Center parking lot. The vendors will be set up on the first level; signs will be placed to guide visitors inside of the Community Center.

Our event On The Shoulders of Giants is celebrating how the future was built from abstract, creative ideas. We are aiming to inspire, educate and entertain.

Attendance is FREE – Support the Geek Group through our auction at the event!

Wesley and The Crushers at the Grand Rapids Comic Con 2015

Trooper Mindtrick, Trooper Jester and Trooper Isomorph of Wesley and The Crushers gave insight on what the band is all about. If you like positive songs about proudly being a geek, then check out this band. Are you curious as to why they are behind masks, how they formed or what type of music they play? Then pique your curiosity by watching this interview. This is a really cool band. I would recommend checking them out in the future if you get a chance to do so.
