CARPS December Event 2017

Central Action Role-Playing Society
We are a high-fantasy LARP (Live Action Role-Playing) group that is currently based in Southeast Michigan. You may already be familiar with tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) such as Dungeons and Dragons or White Wolf products. If you are, the difference between an RPG and a LARP is that RPGs consist of half a dozen or so players sitting around a kitchen table with dice and a single Game Master, whereas a LARP is a cross between an elaborate theatre production, live combat, and a hike in the woods. LARPs such as ours have costuming, boffer weapons, and dozens of players whose actions influence not only what you can accomplish but the course of an entire fantasy world. If you aren’t, well, them’s the basics.

Greetings to all new and prospective players! As always, your first event is free, with a free rewrite should you decide you would rather play a different sort of character or have a different set of skills. (You must be 18 to play.)

Cure-a-Con

WELCOME to Cure-a-Con! At it’s heart, this convention is a cross-section of two subcultures: people who love sharing their devotion for comics, sci-fi/fantasy, cosplay, and gaming, and people who want to help those in need. We are nerds, geeks, and fans working to improve the lives of people facing hardship, and we’ve found a way to leverage our passion to do just that.

At Cure-a-Con, we raise funds to end the pain and suffering of cancer through education, research, and services. When you purchase a ticket, rent an exhibitor booth, or become a sponsor, you are actually making a donation to the American Cancer Society, and we’re showing you our appreciation for that gift by inviting you to a weekend of nerdy celebration. By partnering with us and attending Cure-a-Con, you have the opportunity to geek out with your friends and finish the fight against cancer. Join us. Be a hero.

Thank you for helping to make a difference.

The Continuum

The Continuum is a celebration of science-fiction, fantasy, hard science, music, gaming, animation, film and cosplay.

The Continuum is not your typical convention! We stand out with our well-supplied Convention Hospitality Suite, a Saturday Night Costume Ball, a merchandise area with a wide variety of offerings, several tracks of programming of interest to members and a loyal following of staff and panel participants. Our programming includes literature/sci-fi/fantasy, science/space, music and gaming. There is always something of interest to everyone going on! We also have a video room that screens rare anime and fan-created offerings not seen elsewhere. For NaNoWriMo participants, we offer prep workshops and panels focused on writing.

At The Continuum, you can have the type of day where you attend a tea tasting and history lesson before learning to swordfight, take a breather in a panel where your favorite author discusses world building, then end the day by painting miniatures and listening to someone sing about Star Wars.
