C4 is Northern Michigan’s largest comic book and pop entertainment expo. Located at the scenic Grand Traverse Resort, C4 is Northern Michigan’s perfect gathering of comic book creators, exhibitors, and fans. Cherry Capital Comic Con (C4) is a comic book convention that celebrates the medium of comics, rather than a specific genre. At C4, all comics are equal, as are their creators and their fans. The organizers of C4 intend to prove to the world that comic conventions – just like comic fans and the comics, themselves – don’t have to be “this” or “that”. They can just be what they are…which is simply “cool”. Connect with your favorite creators at a variety of panels. Meet up and coming talent in Artist’s Alley. Find great deals on comics and collectable merchandise at our gathering of exhibitors. Participate in our costume contest, with categories for both adults and children.
Only two events for this week.
Don’t know what to do for the week? Well, check out what’s going on for this weekend.
These Year in Reviews are not, what I call, official “reviews”. Like last year, they will be a series of musings, learned lessons and stories of what I experienced through out the year. Of course, reviews are featured but they are blended in with everything. The theme of FIRSTS sum up the beginning, middle and end of my year, as you will see. Enjoy my year of 2016 in the Michigan Geek Scene.
When May arrives, winter is nothing but an afterthought. No snow or ice in sight. The cold weather is gone (for the most part since it is Michigan after all.) Con season is in it’s stride. What events did the fifth month of the year bring me? Let’s find out.
Here are some photos of my journey through 2016. These photos resonated with me for various reasons. This album features pics from Penguicon, Heroes vs Villains Dance Party, the Motor City Comic Con, the Cherry Capital Comic Con, the Great Lakes Fur Con, the Cedar Springs Renaissance Faire, and the Mid Michigan Renaissance Festival. Enjoy.
Jeremy Bastian, creator of the Cursed Pirate Girl, has created a nautical fantasy world. His artwork is insanely detailed. We talk about his art, influences, Mike Mignola, Berserk and his love for fighting games.
Nolan Nasser creates digital fantasy art. Learn more about this very talented artist. Plus, he’s a huge gamer. Seriously, his art is insanely incredible.
Comic Artist and Musician Dan Dougherty talks with me about his comics (Beardo and Touching Evil), his band, Winnie the Pooh and his feud with Prince.
Here are the photos from my very 1st visit and experience at the Cherry Capital Comic Con.
