AlmaCon Lite 2022

Returning from the pandemic, this AlmaCon will consist of panels featuring professors, an artist alley, and events run by our very own chair heads, including D&D and Super Smash Brothers. We hope to see you there, on March 26th and 27th.

AlmaCon 2023

AlmaCon is a anime and gaming convention hosted by the Alma College Otaku and Gamers (ACOG)! ACOG is a non-profit organization with official campus recognition that is dedicated to the education, enrichment, and exhibition of Japanese culture through Japanese animation, i.e. “anime,” and Japanese comics, i.e. “manga,” as well as the promotion of community participation, involvement, and bonding through role-play gaming, i.e. “Dungeons and Dragons®,” and video gaming.

Jad Saxton at AlmaCon 2017

Voice actress Jad Saxton has lent her talents to series such as Fairy Tail, Death Parade and Dimension W. Learn about the theatrical side of Jad, as we talk extensively about her roles in the Nether and the Trainspotting play. Plus, we delve into one of her favorite fandoms, the world of Harry Potter. Bryce Papenbrook at AlmaCon 2017

Fan favorite voice actor, Bryce Papenbrook has appeared in series such as Attack on Titan, Seven Deadly Sins, and Sword Art Online. Eschewing the usual conversation about anime, we delved more into the other aspects of Bryce’s life. Expect to hear about his father, music, Final Fantasy and a boatload of martial arts. Seriously, a lot about martial arts. Plus, we talk about the upcoming comedic web series called CONFessionals. This was a fun interview that I was looking forward to since I first met him at the Grand Rapids Comic Con in 2016. Check it out.

2016 Year in Review Winter Edition

These Year in Reviews are not, what I call, official “reviews”. Like last year, they will be a series of musings, learned lessons and stories of what I experienced through out the year. Of course, reviews are featured but they are blended in with everything. The theme of FIRSTS sum up the beginning, middle and end of my year, as you will see. Enjoy my year of 2016 in the Michigan Geek Scene.

Winter is the one season that ends one year and begins another. 2016 marked a new journey into the land of Michigan. Sure, it was cold but I couldn’t wait to get on the road and experience everything. Thankfully, it was only cold on the outside. Find out what awaited me during the chilly months of January and February.
